The ministry of men in the local church is defined as a core group of men, partnering with their pastor, to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church. The Prospect United Methodist Men personify this core philosophy of uniting men within the church for a common goal of having an impact, not only within the church, but more importantly on the community as a whole.

The Prospect United Methodist Men accomplish the goals and objectives of the Methodist Men by engaging in some of the activities listed below:

  • Organizing, sponsoring or assisting in church and community activities and service projects which include: Sponsoring annual Church Plate Sale, annual Golf Tournament, cutting wood for the elderly and indigent, as well as, installing temporary handicap access ramps for the disabled
  • Funding activities, projects, scholarships, and other projects
  • Participating in appropriate Rockingham District, Conference or national UMM events or conferences

All activities and programs of the Prospect United Methodist Men will be communicated through the Church’s Sunday Bulletin and during the monthly meeting held on the first Saturday of each month.  The Methodist Men are continually looking for new members to take part in this organization that not only has an impact on the church but more importantly the surrounding communities.

The United Methodist Women (UMW), through its predecessor groups has been organized for and involved on behalf of women, children, and youth for approximately 150 years.  The Prospect UMW has been organized for approximately 85 years.

Because the United Methodist Church is a connectional church, the Prospect United Methodist Women relate directly to district and conference organizations of UMW and to the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries.

Membership is open to any woman who indicates a desire to belong and to participate in the global mission of the Church through UMW.

Some of the assistance, not only for the Church, but for the community as well include: providing food or money to bereaved families, monetary contributions and supplies to the Church sponsored orphanage in Bolivia, placing a Christmas tree in the sanctuary during the holidays, observing Penny and a Prayer, paying pledges to missions, doing the memorial candle lighting service at the New Year’s Eve Service, prepare health kits and sewing kits for MERCI, and being responsible for the World Thank Offering.

Prospect United Methodist Women usually meet once a month.  Check the Church bulletin for date and time of meetings or contact the Church office @ 910-521-2111.
